Siskin Green is a contemporary Scottish folk trio blending “to die for vocals” (Marc Higgins) with evocative instrumentation. They explore themes of faith, feminism and social activism in a sound that moves between earthy and ethereal.

Jane Bentley, Suzanne Butler and Margaret McLarty weave close vocal harmonies over guitar, banjo, fiddle and percussion. Fiery protest songs are balanced by re-imagined hymns and their own new material.

The band formed in 2020, at the request of broadcaster and hymnwriter John L. Bell to arrange and perform music for BBC Scotland’s Reflections at the Quay. What began as a one-off collaboration developed into a committed, ongoing project, founded on their intuitive musical connection and a warm audience response.

Their debut album, Siskin Green (2023), was described by R&R magazine as “reflective and uplifting in equal measure. A captivating, beautifully performed collection of music.” Their second album, Living in the Echo, will be released on 28th August 2026.

Siskin Green have performed at Greenbelt Festival, the Edinburgh Fringe, Solas Festival and have appeared on BBC Scotland, Radio 4 and BBC One's Songs of Praise from the island of Iona.
